this is a bit off topic but figured this would be a good place to ask as many folks here put vid's on youtube...

so how can i rezise (downsize) an avi file. I've managed to cut a 15 min recording into smaller (shorter) parts, but now want to reduce the size of the files so that they will upload onto youtube. They vary in size between almost a gig to 300 megs. would like to reduce them to a third of that if possible. the resolution is really good on the original recording so it won't be a problem to simply bring that down drastically.
What program will do this??

Also is it possible to downsize the video aspect without loozing audio quality?

much appreciated boom wigi boom tsk :)

Afgan-- Generally, the way to do this is by way of the video editing software that is used to create the final edited video in the first place. I use Adobe Premier Elements, but there are a lot of other editing suites out there that perform basically the same functions.

After I finish editing the video in Premier Elements, if I want to use it on YouTube I export it as a Windows Media file. Note that sometimes the default settings on this can result in a very low res video, so I go into the "advanced" options and increase the resolution of the video output.

You might be able to bring the AVI file into the editor, and via that editor you can change the format. I'm used to working with the raw video from the camera, though, and I've never tried to perform that type of transformation. Not sure that it can be done as a simple conversion.

If you have the raw video and can feed it into a computer for editing and output into a different file type, that would probably be the best way to go. Then you can output it in any format you want (that your software supports, of course).

    Hope this helps, -Bill
