I've been doing some extensive YouTube researcg tonight and came across this artist...
Dubravko Lapaine
www.lapaine.com/
Found a couple impressive YouTube videos:
www.youtube.com/watch
www.youtube.com/watch
www.youtube.com/watch
I personally enjoy this aggressive, technical didgeridoo style. I'm not sure if Ondrej Smeykal was considered the first to really pioneer this genre, but the likes of other artists such as Dubravko Lapaine in Croatia and Jake Duncan in the USA seem to indicate this playing style is becoming more popular.

Thu, July 9, 2009 - 3:24 PMYah, I know... my bad. :(
I've been in my own little bubble this past couple weeks, wasn't until this week that I started to REALLY get excited to start playing and practicing again... I'm looking forward to having some quality time with didge and drum friends next week.
I'll flip you a quick message to explain why my head was up my ass. :P -

Re: Dubravko Lapaine
Fri, July 10, 2009 - 5:47 PMabout a year ago or so I posted a thread on Dubravko on sounding too much like Ondrej. Now I'm willing to give him the benifit of a doubt(he is a really good player). He seems like a really good showman and performer so it should be a great show! -

Re: Dubravko Lapaine
Sun, July 12, 2009 - 10:10 PMI've heard other folks say that Du's playing is too much like Ondrej's. I thought the same thing at first but then I really listened his playing. Even though they both play the same general style, they definitely have their own distinctive sound from each other. I'm not sure if anyone knows this but Ondrej was Dubravko's teacher for awhile which explains their similarities.
For anyone who is going to JT, I think you're in for a great show. Enjoy!! :-)
Cheers,
Pam -

Re: Dubravko Lapaine
Mon, July 13, 2009 - 9:04 AMThats good to hear. When I first heard "Du" (I guess thats the easier way of spelling out that name) I thought the guy was some sort of second rate Ondrej imitator. But now looking at is performances on Youtube including his stagemenship it should be a really cool show.
