Jake Duncan will be debuting his new cd (and first!) 'Sound Triggers Memory' this friday April 4th at Loafers in Albany Oregon at 7:30 pm.
Jake has studied from Tyler Spencer and Ondrej Smeykal and is very good at that percussive multilayered style. I'm jelous.

Great to hear that . Can't wait to get his firs cd . Spoke to him like 2 wekks ago . Jake said it will be available via laoutback. I'm jelous too chad :).As I'm ondrejs fan as well . I try to "study " his music a lot, chopping each track into little pieces then joining it back together. Just like adding more and more spices while cooking some nice Indian dish :) One layer after another .
I'll need to contact you very soon Chad :) I'm also didge hungry . we seem to think alike with Jake about didge music and didges we like :)
Hope you'll be able to find some time for one awsome stick.
All the best to all of you. -

Re: Jake Duncan performance this friday
Thu, April 3, 2008 - 10:27 AMStephen lives in Berkley Ca., I just spoke with him on the phone yesterday and he is headed to England with his daughter for a little extended spring break. Stephen grew up in England, performed with a traveling circus (can't you see it?), spent some time living in Australia then moved to California in the early 90's (I think, could be late 80's). He's performing constantly with international ensembles and is an incredibly talented and intuitive multi-instrumentalist. He's played in several lineups that has resulted in many excellent recordings. I really like Family Tree, and Oil and Water. I like a bunch of his early stuff too but I don't even look at the titles, I just pop 'em in and love it. His stuff with the Tuvans resulted in some mind blowing performances.I first saw him perform in about '96 at Alan Shockleys birthday party in Tucson. That night was enlightening and pure bliss. I'd have to say though that maybe my favorite Stephen Kent moment was at JT a few years back when Stephen was kickin it with me by my van and Tara was there conversing with him and after a while she asked him what he does and when he replied he's a didge player she looked at him as if we're all here because we're didge players, and it was a fun moment of annonimity just lateral to throngs of admiring (and sometimes pestering) fans.

Thu, April 3, 2008 - 7:45 PMThats cool, I hope I didn't offend anybody and I forgot to mention David Blonsky. But I don't see too many U.S. players doing the big Euro fests.
