I've started drumming on doumbek or djembe while I play my didge. The hard part was figuring out how to hold up the didge. I've only seen one type of didge stand online, and it costs over 160 bucks:

It's basically a cymbal stand tripod with a clamp, and that seems like a lot to pay. I thought about somehow clamping my didge to the boom of a $35 microphone stand, but the clamp part seems tricky. I don't need a heavy-duty solution because my agave didges are really light (thanks, Tyler!).
So I came up with another solution. I have a non-skid mousepad with a wrist rest. I put that on the floor, with the wrist rest on the side away from me, and put the bell of the didge on the pad, letting the wrist rest keep it from sliding away. The mouse pad looks something like this:

Then I use a guitar stand to hold up the didge. The stand I have looks like this one:

I just rotate the top part around so the U-shaped top cradle is facing the other way. I rest the didge in the cradle and voila! This could work if you were standing up, but I use it sitting down in a cheap folding chair, so I can drum at the same time.
Does anyone have other creative (and cheap!) solutions to this problem?

Re: Didge Stands, Anyone?
Sat, September 20, 2008 - 11:00 PMHow about a 2 or three dollar solution instead? I saw an Ausie brother playing doumbekh and djembe while didjn.' into a mic. and efx. station with portable mini PA's. He hooked one end of a bungee to the bell of his didj and the other ent to the base of his drum. -
